The Chinese Navy destroyer Nanning and the supply ship Weishanhu were involved in the evacuation of citizens.
The Chinese military evacuated 940 Chinese citizens and more than 230 foreigners from Sudan to the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. This was announced by the representative of the Ministry of National Defense of China, Tang Kefei.
The military has been ordered to evacuate Chinese personnel from Sudan to protect their lives and property, he said.
“With the assistance of Chinese embassies and consulates in their respective countries, from April 26 to 29, the Chinese Navy destroyer Nanning and the supply ship Weishanhu evacuated 940 Chinese citizens and 231 foreign personnel from the port of Sudan to the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia,” said Col. Tang Kefei.
Earlier, China took about 700 more people out of Sudan.
It will be remembered that this week Ukraine evacuated 91 citizens and 51 foreigners from Sudan. The operation was conducted by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense in coordination with the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As you know, on April 15, clashes broke out in Sudan between the Rapid Reaction Forces (RSF) and the regular army. This happened because of disagreements between the commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is actually the president of the country, and the head of the Rapid Reaction Force, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo (Hamidti). More than 400 people are known to have died as a result of the conflict and 4,000 were injured.
