Skynex air defense batteries in Ukraine are on alert. Now the possibility of joint production of components for these systems is considered.
Ukraine and Italy are exploring the possibility of joint production of components for the Skynex air defense system already operating in Ukraine. This was announced on Thursday evening, April 26, by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who is in Italy.
“We are expanding the horizons of cooperation between Ukraine and Italy in the military-industrial complex. Today I visited the Italian defense company Rheinmetall Italia SpA, which specializes in the production of modern air defense systems. Among its developments is the Skynex short-range air defense. We need such an effective weapon to protect against drones attacking Ukraine Russia,” said Shmyhal.
According to him, such batteries are already on alert in Ukraine.
“We are also considering the possibility of joint production of components for these systems,” he said.
Shmyhal also noted that Ukraine needs a more effective air defense system that will create a reliable shield around strategic infrastructure facilities. According to the prime minister, proper work is being done on this occasion.
It was earlier reported that Shmyhal met with the President of Italy and discussed cooperation in the fields of finance, defense and sanctions.
