The representative of Ukraine at the UN said that the Kremlin has created an information bubble with a parallel reality for millions of Russians, making them ready to kill and destroy.
The Nuremberg Tribunal prosecuted not only the Nazi political and military leadership, but also diplomats and propagandists. Serhiy Dvornik, adviser to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to this organization, recalled this at a session of the UN Committee on Information on Tuesday, April 25, Ukrinform reports.
He also noted that weaponizing information has been a deliberate strategy of the Putin regime since its inception.
“Starting with the destruction of independent media and the killing of independent journalists, the Kremlin has created an information bubble with a parallel reality for millions of Russians,” the diplomat said.
According to Dvornik, Russian society eventually succumbed to anti-Ukrainian fakes, saturated for two decades.
As an example, he cited the video footage of the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war that spread on social networks for the words “Glory to Ukraine!” To which the Russians wrote comments like: “Great, but more is needed.”
The janitor compared Russian propaganda methods to those used by the Nazis.
“For your people to be willing to kill and destroy, you have to combine the dehumanization of the chosen target with other feelings, including … the superiority of one’s own country and faith in a leader,” he said.
The diplomat also reacted to the statements made at the session of the Committee on Information by the Russian propagandist, Russian Foreign Ministry speaker Maria Zakharova, who took the opportunity to arrive in New York as part of the delegation led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov .
“While Russia is launching its military and mercenaries, missiles and drones, combat aircraft and multiple rocket launchers into Ukraine to kill Ukrainians and destroy Ukrainian cities, it has also launched several fake UN installations from Russian Foreign Ministry – just to kill and destroy. Kill the truth,” he said.
The diplomat said the Institute of Mass Information recorded about 500 crimes against the media and journalists committed by Russia during the 13 months of an all-out invasion of Ukraine. 52 media workers were killed, including eight journalists while performing their professional duties. 14 missing, 21 abducted by Russian troops, 17 wounded.
“At the same time, the Russians who are called ‘journalists’ are among those who incite hatred against Ukrainians. Now they glorify the occupying army and justify its crimes in Ukraine,” he stressed, recalling that the Nuremberg Tribunal prosecuted not only the Nazi political and military leadership, but also diplomats and propagandists.
“I recommend that Moscow’s heirs of the Third Reich remember this historical fact,” the adviser of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN summed up.
It was previously reported that the head of the German Foreign Ministry ignored the UN Security Council in order not to listen to Lavrov’s lies.
