The Russian Defense Ministry launched a new campaign enlistment in the army which addresses in a short video through the story of three characters to “masculinity”.
“You are macho. Act like a macho,” the video says after introducing a security guard, a taxi driver and a gym instructor who pretend to be dressed in uniform.
“Is this the defender you dreamed of becoming?” says the ad in the first few seconds, showing a security guard with a metal detector at the entrance to the supermarket.
The video also asks, “Is this your strength?” showing a gym trainer helping a client perform weight training. “Is this the path you wanted to take?” asks the taxi driver in the pictures during the service.
The video then shows three young men already in uniform, equipped and armed, marching in slow motion through the fog, and calls on the Russians to work under contract for salaries in excess of 204,000 rubles a month (about $2,500).
conscription into the army
While Russian authorities deny they have plans to call for new mobilizations after more than 300,000 reservists were called up last September, they are continuing their usual conscription campaigns.
Partial mobilization last September to support Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine prompted a mass exodus of young men of military age who did not want to participate in this militant standoff.
At the end of March, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putinsigned a decree on compulsory military service for 147,000 Russians from April 1 to July 15, which is 12,500 more than in 2022.
The decree, published on the portal of legal information of the government of the Russian Federation, establishes that Russians aged 18 to 27 will be called up. (EFE)
