A federal grand jury in Tampa, Florida, USA, returned an indictment against seven people for “working on behalf of the Russian government and in conjunction with the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB)”. to develop “external evil influence” in USA.

According to a US Justice Department statement, the Russian defendants “recruited, funded and directed US political groups to act as unregistered illegal agents of the Russian government, sow discord and spread pro-Russian propaganda.”

On the other hand, Deputy Attorney General USAMatthew Olsen, condemned that the Russian foreign intelligence service “allegedly used as a weapon” the rights to freedom, freedom of assembly and expression to “divide Americans and interfere in elections.”
“The Department will not hesitate to expose and prosecute those who sow discord and corrupt U.S. elections in the service of hostile foreign interests, whether those responsible are U.S. citizens or foreigners abroad,” Olsen added.
