The heads of the Pentagon and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine exchanged information on the security situation and “synchronized watches” before the meeting in Ramstein.
Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov held a telephone conversation in which they discussed the current security situation and priorities ahead of the Rammstein meeting. This was announced on Monday, April 17, by the US Department of Defense.
“Both leaders discussed the security situation in Ukraine,” Deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said at the briefing.
The heads of the defense departments also discussed the priorities before the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, which will be held this week at the Ramstein airbase in Germany. Singh emphasized that Austin was looking forward to the Contact Group meeting.
Also, according to him, on Monday, the US and British defense secretaries are scheduled to meet at the Pentagon, which will focus on strengthening bilateral relations in the field of defense, as well as on “general ongoing efforts to support Ukraine.”
It was previously reported that a new meeting of the Ramstein format will be held on Wednesday, March 15. Ukraine hopes to get more air defense systems and ammunition from the allies.
Recall that Reznikov participated in an informal meeting of defense ministers of the countries of the European Union, where they discussed the acceleration of the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.
