The rehabilitation centers will be built by Metinvest and the UN Global Compact initiative. The first will open in July in Zaporozhye.
Metinvest and the UN Global Compact signed a memorandum on the establishment of psychological rehabilitation and support centers for Ukrainians affected by the war. This was reported by the press service of Metinvest. Metinvest signed the memorandum with the Save Lives humanitarian initiative.
The memorandum states that, first of all, aid will be provided to civilians in the regions where Metinvest’s businesses operate.
It is expected that the first center will open in Zaporozhye in July this year: Metinvest will help equip and provide premises for the organization of the center, as well as attract psychologists and staff. The UN GC in Ukraine, in turn, will develop the concept and programs of psychological assistance, train psychologists and staff of the center and organize its work, Metinvest’s press service reported.
“Our task as a socially responsible company is to systematically help Ukrainians to overcome the hardships and pain of the war. Save Lives, together with partners, is already developing places for prosthetics for the military and civilians, as well as the psychological recovery of women and children. Now is the time to create centers that will help civilians recover and integrate into society. Our partner, the UN Global Compact in Ukraine, has significant experience in this area,” commented Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest Group, commenting on the signing of the memorandum.
In this regard, the Director General of the UN GC in Ukraine, Tatyana Sakharuk, said that “Zaporozhye is a great center for people who felt the consequences of the war.”
“That’s why my team and I chose this location to open our first community center. Together we can provide more quality help to people who need it the most,” he said.
It will be remembered that in December 2022, Metinvest launched a humanitarian prosthetics project aimed at people who cannot pay for it. At the end of March, within the framework of this project, an online educational platform Knowledge Base: Protez Hub for specialists in the field of limb prosthetics and victims was launched in Ukraine.
