The activities of the pro-Russian religious structure of the UOC-MP were banned in Volyn – today the deputies of the Volyn Regional Council unanimously voted for the corresponding decision, writes “Public”.
The deputies also recommended that the Volyn military-civilian administration terminate the lease agreements with the UOC-MP, which use churches with the status of an architectural monument.
The draft decision was unanimously supported by 54 deputies. According to the draft, the deputies decided:
-
apply to the President with a request to determine the draft law “On Ensuring the Strengthening of National Security in the Sphere of Freedom of Conscience and the Activities of Religious Organizations” without delay and to consider it out of turn in the Verkhovna Rada.
-
to prohibit the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (officially registered as the Kiev Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church) in the territory of the Volyn region.
-
to recommend to the Volyn Regional Military Administration to terminate the lease (use) agreement for the complex of buildings with the religious organization “Svyatogorsk Assumption Zimny Stauropegial Convent of the Volyn Region” and relevant agreements with other religious communities of the UOC-MP using architectural monuments.
According to media reports, 523 religious societies of the UOC-MP are registered in Volhynia. Since the start of the full-scale war, 49 parishes have joined the WTO.
Recall that recently the deputies of the Rivne Regional Council at an extraordinary session voted for a ban on the UOC-MP in the region. They also appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a request to terminate lease agreements with religious organizations that do not comply with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation.
