The transfer of TOS-1A heavy thermobaric multiple launch rocket systems to the Russian airborne troops may indicate the future growth of their role in offensive operations in Ukraine.
This is stated in the intelligence review of the British Ministry of Defense.
British intelligence drew attention to Russian media reports about the transfer of TOS-1A to Russian paratroopers. The highly destructive TOS-1A is commonly used by the specialized Russian chemical, biological and radiological defense forces in Ukraine and has not previously been officially associated with paratroopers.
This transfer likely points to the future role of the airborne troops in offensive operations in Ukraine. This is likely part of an effort to restore the capabilities of the paratroopers after they suffered significant losses in the first nine months of the war, the review says.
Recall that earlier the Kremlin overturned additional troops in the Bakhmut area and began to use artillery in the area more efficiently.
British intelligence did not rule out that at the local level, the Wagnerites and the Russian Ministry of Defense suspended their strife and improved cooperation.
