Hungarian-Russian energy cooperation should be uninterrupted and it is not a matter of political taste, but of physics, says Peter Szijjártó.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian authorities in the field of energy. He wrote this on Facebook on Tuesday, April 11.
“With a very mild winter behind us, Europe has survived in terms of energy supply. However, due to the radical increase in energy demand with the restart of the Chinese economy and the very slow pace of development of the energy infrastructure in Europe, next winter will be a real challenge ,” wrote Szijjártó.
According to him, Hungary’s energy supply security “requires an uninterrupted supply of gas, crude oil and nuclear fuel.” To fulfill these “conditions”, he decided to go to Moscow.
“The Hungarian-Russian energy cooperation must be uninterrupted. This is not a matter of political taste, but of physics. Today in Moscow we will discuss the most important issues of cooperation necessary for the security of Hungary’s energy supply: first with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Alexander Novak, and then with the Director General of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev,” said Szijjártó.
It was previously reported that Russia included Hungary in the list of “unfriendly countries”. This happened because of Budapest’s participation in EU sanctions.
