He Ministry of Justice announced Monday that it will pay some $2.7 billion in the coming weeks to 5,361 victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks, bringing more than $6 billion in compensation paid to victims of international terrorism and their families.
The Victim Compensation Fund was established by Congress in 2015 and is administered by the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Division (MLARS) of the Criminal Division.
Since then, he has already distributed 3.3 billion in 4 rounds, and to this amount is added the payment announced this Monday.
