Every year, the IMF Annual and Spring Meetings bring together central bankers, finance and development ministers, private sector executives, civil society and academia.
The head of the NBU, Andriy Pyshny, and his deputy, Serhiy Nikolaychuk, left for a working visit to Washington as part of the official Ukrainian delegation to the annual Spring Meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. This was announced on Sunday, April 8, on Facebook by the National Bank.
“The goal is to participate in the annual spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, to hold bilateral meetings with international partners,” the press service said.
It was noted that during the events, Pyshny will discuss: the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum with the IMF; the consequences of Russian military aggression and increased sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation; the necessary steps to strengthen the stability of our state and rapid economic recovery after the war.
In addition, a number of meetings are planned during the visit with the leadership of the IMF, World Bank, EBRD, US Treasury, European Central Bank and other international partners.
Earlier, the IMF estimated the dynamics of Ukraine’s GDP this year from “minus” 3% to “plus” 1%, and next year it is expected to grow by 3.2%.
In January, the National Bank lowered its GDP estimate to 0.3% in 2023, but at the end of March announced the high probability of its upward revision, including at least 1% due to a better than expected energy supply situation.
