Cavusoglu said that Turkey has been accused of supporting Russia, however, according to him, the country is already buying Russian grain and fertilizers.
In the implementation of the “grain deal” there are problems related to the barriers to the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. This is what Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said following a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Anadolu reports.
Cavusoglu mentioned the need to eliminate these problems.
“The Secretary General of the UN is also making efforts in this direction. It is important to solve all these problems in order to extend the agreement,” said the Turkish minister.
According to Cavusoglu, Turkey intends to extend the agreement under the auspices of the UN for the export of Ukrainian food.
He added that within the framework of the “grain agreement”, 866 ships with more than 27 million tons of agricultural products have sailed from three Ukrainian ports so far.
Cavusoglu recalled that the grain agreement was extended for another 60 days, and the staff of the Coordination Center in Istanbul had 111 people.
“All this makes an important contribution to stability in the food market. The President of Turkey, in a conversation with his Russian counterpart, also noted the importance of providing agricultural products to the underdeveloped country. Today, Turkey is accused of supporting Russia. However, We have already bought Russian grain and fertilizers. The main thing is the issue, ensuring the continuation of import-export, which is only possible if the “grain agreements” are implemented, the minister said.
Recall that Louis Dreyfus, one of the world’s leading traders, will stop exporting Russian grain from July 1, 2023.
In the past, similar statements were made by Cargill, as well as Viterra.
