This was announced at a briefing by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen following the talks in Beijing.
We also expect that China will not directly or indirectly provide any military equipment to Russia, since we all know that arming an aggressor is contrary to international law and will significantly damage our relations, von der Leyen said.
During talks with the Chinese leader, she raised the issue of a full-scale war in Ukraine, reaffirming her support for the Ukrainian “peace plan” and Beijing’s statements about the inadmissibility of nuclear threats.
I urged President Xi to talk to President Zelensky, I know this from phone conversations with President Zelensky, and he publicly asked for this… So it was interesting to hear that President Xi confirmed his willingness to have a conversation when the conditions and time are right. I think this is a positive element,” added the President of the EC.
