Investigators have completed the investigation into the case of the beating of a conscript soldier by a junior lieutenant in the Zhytomyr region.
The case was under investigation for less than a month. The platoon commander is accused of a crime committed under Part 5 of Art. 426-1 (use of violence against a subordinate committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The defendant admitted his guilt. The officer faces up to 12 years in prison. This was reported on April 5 by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Recall, the commander of the 2nd platoon of the security company, Lieutenant Viktor Vitusevich, kicked a conscript soldier in the barracks of the 190th training center in the village of Guyva, Zhytomyr region.
After the publicity, the aggressor said that he had beaten the soldier because he allegedly abused alcohol. The officer stressed that this was how he conducted an “educational conversation.”
However, instead of legal methods of influence, Vituchevich used force and beat the young man on the body with his feet. As a result of the beating, the victim received minor injuries.
Subsequently, the DBR informed this commander of the suspicion of abuse of power. The court in the Zhytomyr region sent the lieutenant under round-the-clock house arrest.
