Passports are taken from high-ranking officials and heads of state-owned companies. So, the Kremlin regime is trying to prevent elite people from flying out of the country.
Russian intelligence services seize the passports of high-ranking officials and heads of state-owned companies to restrict their flights from Russia. This was stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) following the results on Monday, April 3.
ISW analysts believe that in this way the Russian special services seek to prevent high-ranking officials, former officials and heads of state companies from traveling abroad.
ISW notes that this indicates that the Kremlin is still afraid that the elite will leave Russia. On March 10, Russian security officials ordered several government officials and employees of state-owned companies to surrender their passports under threat of forcible confiscation of passports or forced dismissal.
