The Russians have been trying to move toward the city center, but with only minor intermittent success, Anna Malyar said.
Russian troops attack simultaneously in four directions, but mostly without success. The enemy could not capture Bakhmut. This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar on Telegram on Saturday, April 1.
“To sum up the report in simple terms, then: the situation in the East in the areas of defense operations remains quite complex,” wrote Malyar.
According to him, the aggressor performs the main offensive actions simultaneously in four directions – Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Maryinsky and Avdeevsky. In this case, the enemy usually fails.
“The greatest effort is focused on establishing control over Bakhmut, they are trying to move towards the central part of the city, in some areas they have less varied successes. But they cannot take the city. The difficult battles are continuing around and in the city. The enemy is also conducting offensive operations in the Avdiivka area with the aim of encircling the city and blocking supply routes,” Malyar said.
He added that the fighting continues in Belogorovka and Marinka.
Recall that the battles for Bakhmut became the most expensive for Russia during the entire period of a full-scale war against Ukraine. At the same time, time was not playing into the hands of the Russian invaders.
Earlier, GUR said today was the apogee of Russia’s “major offensive”. For more than a year of war, the enemy did not achieve a single strategic goal set in the Kremlin.
