Ukraine today remembered the Russian massacre in Bucha, a year after the liberation of the city north of Kiev, and demanded punishment for Russia, which refuses to acknowledge its responsibility for these events, which are being investigated by the West as alleged war crimes.
“When we release butch we saw that the devil came to earth. The terrible truth about what happened in the temporarily occupied territories has been revealed to the world,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who today visited the city along with four European leaders.
We will never forget
“We will never forget the victims of this war, and we will bring to justice all Russian murderers,” the president added, condemning this during the 33 days of Russian occupation in butch “More than 1,400 people died, including 37 children.”
Zelensky, who awarded the title of “Hero City” butchrecalled that “more than 175 people were found in mass graves and torture chambers”, noting that the city had become “a symbol of the atrocities of the occupying army”.
“We will definitely win this battle. Russian evil will be defeated here in Ukraineand will never rise again. Humanity will win. But humanity must remember every Ukrainian city, whose heroism and resilience guarantee the future to all who value the most important thing – life,” he said during the ceremony.
The head of the Ukrainian state was accompanied by the Prime Ministers of Slovakia, Eduard Heger; Slovenia, Robert Golob; and Croatia, Andrei Plenkovic; in addition to Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

Together with them, he placed red candles at the memorial dedicated to the victims of the massacre.
During the action, the names of 77 victims were named, who were found and identified in a mass grave, as well as 11 Ukrainian soldiers who fell in battles for control of the city.
The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, confirmed from Brussels that he had “terrifying pictures” of this crime with him, and recalled that the Twenty-seven “help Ukraine investigate such crimes and collect evidence” so that there is no impunity.
Russia demands independent investigation
Russia meanwhile, he kept silent about this event. He always claimed that it was a setup.
Foreign state spokeswoman Maria Zakharova returned this Thursday to categorically deny any Russian responsibility for the deaths and asked the United Nations for a full list of victims to facilitate an “independent investigation” into the facts.

“I want to remind you that our request to UN Secretary General António Guterres remains in force and we have not received any response yet,” he said.
According to Zakharova, the UN responded to Russia that these lists are on the Internet, before which Moscow insisted on its desire to gain access to official lists.
“In order to establish the truth (…) an honest, impartial and independent investigation is needed, which should focus on four issues: the identification of the bodies, the time and cause of death, and traces of the possible movement of the bodies,” Indian said. .
No news at the front
Meanwhile, fighting continues in the east Ukraineall attention is on the city of Bakhmut, where the bloodiest clashes of the Ukrainian campaign take place.
The American Institute of War Research confirmed that the Wagner group of Russian mercenaries, which led the Russian offensive in the city, “has made little progress.”
Wagner’s boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, acknowledged today that the Ukrainian army is up against Russian forces, who are forced to take the city virtually door-to-door.
“The Ukrainian army is not running anywhere,” he said, noting that the Ukrainian military “fought a bloody battle and defended Artemovsk (the Russian name for Bakhmut) at the cost of very serious losses.”
In this context, President of neighboring Belarus Alexander Lukashenko today called for an immediate ceasefire and the start of peace talks without preconditions.
“I dare to propose (…) a ceasefire without the right to move troops,” he said during his annual speech to the National Assembly.
Kyiv reacted immediately: adviser to the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak tweeted that “any ceasefire will allow Russia remain in the occupied territories,” referring to the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, which were annexed by Moscow last September.
“This cannot be allowed under any circumstances. Ukraine has the right to transfer troops and military equipment to its territory at its own discretion,” he said, noting that “strange peacekeepers” like Lukashenka “look ridiculous.”
