In the Russian Federation, a court arrested the head of the maritime department of the Russian Guard

The investigation accused Volkov of involvement in providing low-quality complexes to the troops to combat drones, which were supposed to be used to protect the Crimean bridge.

In Russia, the 235th garrison military court arrested Colonel Sergei Volkov, head of the department of the Naval Directorate of the Russian Guard, on the charge of organizing the supply of low-quality systems to combat UAVs. The arrest was made until May 17. On Wednesday, March 29, the TASS agency reported.

Earlier, the Main Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation accused Volkov of exceeding his powers, which entailed serious consequences.

In particular, the investigation accused Volkov of involvement in providing low-quality complexes to the troops to combat drones, which were supposed to be used to protect the Crimean bridge.

The damage in the case of Volkov amounted to 395.5 million rubles.

He faces up to 10 years in prison.

Volkov is not guilty. According to the lawyers, their client cannot influence the tactical and technical characteristics of the given complexes and the price paid for them.

Earlier, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court sentenced a former official of the Ministry of Defense, who offered 24 million hryvnias as bribes for a positive audit of the repair of a special purpose facility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
