Ukrainian soldiers cannot wait a few weeks to deliver an artillery response to the Russians, the president insisted.
Ukraine’s allies should accelerate the supply of weapons to our country to guarantee the defeat of Russia and stop the invaders’ attempts to seize new territories. This was announced on Wednesday, March 29, by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the second Summit for Democracy organized by the United States, speaking here online.
Zelensky noted that he had been to the front line and it was clear there what kind of help the Ukrainian military needed.
“The fighters near Bakhmut cannot wait a few weeks to inflict an artillery response on the Russians. The fire must be immediate. All our decisions must be as quick. But why are the sanctions against Russia slower than the Russian invasion,” he said.
The President noted that global pressure on the Russian elite is weaker than its motive to tolerate the Kremlin. At the same time, support for the Ukrainian military in the trenches “is no less long-range than the weapons of terrorists operating against Ukraine.”
“Yes, and your own willingness to defend your democracies is less determined than the intentions of those who want a world war against democracy. Democracies need help. Now. Please, comrades, act!” Zelensky stressed.
Earlier, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russians were advancing on Bakhmut – from the south to the center and northwest of the city.
