Yusaf’s candidacy was supported by the majority of MPs – 71 votes. Other candidates, including Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross and Scottish Labor leader Anas Sarwar, received 31 and 22 votes each. There are 128 members of the Scottish Parliament.
Humza Yousaf will replace Nicola Sturgeon in this post. Tomorrow he will be sworn in at the Court of Session in Edinburgh. Also, the name Yusaf will be given to the British King Charles III.
