Carlos Neuhaus on the political crisis: “I’m worried if we can achieve peace of mind by 2026”

The president Association of Shopping and Leisure Centers of Peru, Carlos Neuhaus, explained that, together with a delegation of businessmen, they toured several European countries to explain the political and economic situation in Peru. However, he clarified that a possible solution is to conduct a new electoral process with less polarization. However, he expressed concern about the possibility of reaching 2026 with relative calm.

“Personally, the best thing would be something that allows the temperature to drop to normal levels and conduct the electoral process with the least possible polarization. My concern is whether we can reach 2026 with peace of mind. .But the most important thing is that the temperature is dropping,” he said in News extension from PTR.

“The initiative comes from inPERU, a group that brings together financial institutions: the stock market, the banking association, etc., which annually holds presentations to promote investment in Peru. This has not happened since the pandemic, which in New York, London, Madrid, that is, in the main financial cities of the world, ”explained Neuhaus.

He added that due to “complaints from many people who went to these meetings,” a group was organized that was no longer economic or financial enough to promote investment, but were people who could explain what happened in Peru.”

“Personally, I had to travel with a group of people to Madrid and London to tell the truth. coup. Congress released the President for this. And now there are three ways out: the first is the resignation of the president; another, that the Congress calls elections ahead of time; and another one that is expected in 2026. The idea is to explain it and get people to express their opinion,” he explained.

Neuhaus He noted that initially there was a different idea of ​​what happened in connection with the failed coup d’état of former President Pedro Castillo. But he clarified that after what happened, even left-wing groups had to come to terms with reality.

“There was concern because the first messages were from a humble professor who became president of Peru, but this led to a number of corruption problems, and after this attempt failed coup. We were with journalists and in England with members of parliament, and I think that the truth is becoming visible little by little, the temperature is dropping, the smoke is dissipating, but the truth remains,” he said.

“There were political biases and people in the media, like the presidents of the states (Petro and López Obrador) who said otherwise and continue to insist on it.
