On Monday, eleven Republican senators backed and backed a $ 40 billion security package for the bailout for Ukraine, indicating that the GOP is protesting U.S. efforts to thwart a bloody three-month presidential invasion. Russian Vladimir Putin.

The security package is unlikely to pass this weekend because a Republican Senator, Rand Paul Kentucky, protested a quick vote on the measure.

Paul called for legislation to give the inspector general the power to control spending, which he called unprecedented and not in favor of finance. But Democrats said it would require a new vote in the House and would waste valuable time because of Russia’s daily bombing of Ukrainian cities, which would lead to gruesome scenes of death and destruction.

In a speech Monday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Paul’s attempt to postpone the bill as “completely unacceptable”, saying it “only serves to strengthen Putin’s hand in the long run.”

Ukrainian MP Oleksandra Ustinova fears the delay will cost her life in a tweet:

When you told your 3-week-old baby that his mother’s job last week we had to spend separately to help the country was blocked by a man in the U.S. Senate.

Ten other Republican senators joined Paul Monday in a vote to push the Anti-Movement Security Package; Many of these senators made statements in support of Ukraine’s situation after the Russian invasion:

Marsha Blackburn (Ten)
John Buzman (Ark)
Mike Brown (Ind.)
Mike Crapo (Idaho)
Bill Hegert (Ten)
Josh Heule (Mo.)
Mike Lee (Utah)
Roger Marshall (Can.)
Tommy Tuberville (Ala.)

The list of MPs blocking aid to Ukraine has continued to grow in recent months. Last week, 57 Republicans supported the Ukraine aid bill in the House. Two months ago, only three members of parliament voted against a separate security package.

Supporters of former President Donald Trump and right-wing pundits, including Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson, have stepped up rhetoric against U.S. support for Ukraine. Trump also questioned the size of the spending last week, attributing it to a shortage of infant formulas related to safety concerns and supply chain problems.

“Democrats are sending another $ 40 billion to Ukraine, but American parents are also having a hard time feeding their children,” Trump said in a statement released by his Super PAC.

Vol. Josh Heule (Mo.) Discuss Spending $ 40 billion on Ukraine is “not in America’s interest,” he added on Twitter, adding that “Europe allows dumping, ignores household priorities (on the border), allows Europe to download , short transfer of critical interests abroad and not question. “Administration.”

But Senator Rick Scott (Florida), a deficient choir and like Heulle, a potential 2024 presidential candidate, supported the bill. Trump’s main ally called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “a threat to our national security and to the security of our democratic allies.” He added: “America must always protect our interests and support democracy with tyranny.”

The vote on the Ukraine package came on Monday after a visit by Republican Senate leaders to Kiev, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ki.). After meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky, McConnell told reporters he assured them that “support for Ukraine and this war against the Russians is bipartisan”, including the “absolute majority of Republicans”.

McConnell also appealed to the opposition to help Ukraine in a statement released following the trip by his party’s Trump wing.

“Ukraine is not asking anyone to protest,” he said. “They’re just asking for the tools they need for defense.”

“America’s support for Ukraine’s defense is not just a charity,” he added. “Adherence to the principle of sovereignty, the promotion of stability in Europe and the imposition of costs on Russia’s naked aggression have a direct and important impact on American national security and vital interests.”
