The US Secretary of State will work to “ensure that China does not receive preferential treatment or special assistance through international organizations.”
The House of Representatives of the US Congress approved on Monday, March 27, a bill in which the Secretary of State should work to remove China’s status of a developing country in international organizations. This was reported by The Hill.
The document obliges the secretary of state to “request” a change in the status of the PRC from a developing country to a high-income country, a country with a high level of wealth, or a developed country to international organizations that include both the United States and China.
The Secretary of State must also work to “ensure that China does not receive preferential treatment or special assistance through international organizations.”
It will be recalled that Chinese leader Xi Jinping said that “the United States is restraining China.”
And China’s new Premier Li Qiang believes that China and the US can and should work together, because by working together they can “achieve a lot.”
