Research an icebreaker Noosphere together with the team of the 28th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition (UAE) arrived at the Akademik Vernadsky station. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on Facebook.
It was noted that the journey from the Chilean port of Punta Arenas to the station took five days.
“In the coming days, the unloading of the ship and the change of annual expeditions will continue. Scientists and specialists from the 27th UAE, who worked with Vernadsky for a year, will transfer cases to colleagues from on the 28th Antarctic expedition,” the report. said.
After that, the traditional transfer of station between expeditions will take place, the winters of the 27th UAE will go home, and the participants of the 28th will remain working for a year.
Their main activities include measurements and research in the following areas: geophysics; meteorology; biology; maintaining the life of the station.
