The occupying army of Russia is reinforcing the depleted detachments of its soldiers with a certain number of highly qualified units of the private military company Wagner for an offensive on Avdiivka. This is reported by the American Institute for the Study of War.
ISW analysts suggest that the Russian military leadership is thus seeking to consolidate recent limited tactical gains in the area.
ISW pointed to rumors about the resignation on March 27 of the commander of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Rustam Muradov, as well as the possible dismissal of the commander of the Western Military District, Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov, whose troops operate along the Kupyansk-Svatovo-Kremennaya line. Potential dismissals of commanders who have not achieved success or have suffered significant losses are being discussed in the propaganda information space of Russia.
The Russian authorities and some bloggers have focused on finding and punishing individual commanders for the failures of their troops, rather than investigating and resolving problematic issues in Russian command and control, the structure of the armed forces and their deployment patterns, the ISW adds.
Recall that the Russian government continues to form new volunteer battalions subordinated to irregular formations.
