Pyongyang must have superior nuclear forces for the sake of “regional stability,” the DPRK leader said.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected the DPRK Nuclear Weapons Institute and ordered to increase the production of nuclear weapons. This was announced on March 28 by the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (KCNA).
The DPRK leader called for “ideal” readiness to use nuclear weapons “anytime and anywhere.”
“Kim Jong-un said that we must strengthen the consistent production of nuclear weapons, and the Institute of Nuclear Weapons and workers in the field of nuclear energy must expand the production of nuclear raw materials suitable for in the creation of weapons to continue to implement the plan of the Central Committee of the Party to increase the stock of nuclear weapons in geometric progression,” the article said.
According to the North Korean leader, if Pyongyang has a powerful and superior nuclear force, “the enemy will be afraid and will not dare to interfere with the sovereignty of the state, system and people” of the country.
“If we are fully prepared to use our nuclear weapons at any moment, then nuclear weapons will never be used,” he stressed.
At the same time, Kim Jong-un claimed that the DPRK’s nuclear weapons “are not directed against other countries,” and that the enemy of the country’s nuclear forces is “the war itself and the nuclear disaster as a whole.”
It will be recalled that on March 18-19, North Korea conducted exercises to simulate a tactical nuclear counterattack.
