The Agency for Reconstruction of Ukraine this year is modernizing road checkpoints on the border of five countries.
The State Agency for Rehabilitation and Infrastructure Development will modernize border checkpoints in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova. This is stated in the agency’s Facebook message.
It is known that the process of transferring the checkpoints to the management of the agency will take place gradually for further restoration.
“In 2023, we will focus mainly on the busiest directions, including at checkpoints Yagodin, Rava-Ruska, Krakovets, Shegini, Dyakovo, Porubnoe, Krasnoilsk, Dyakovtsy, Bila Tserkva, Uzhgorod, Chop (Tisa), Luzhanka, Dida, Mogilev -Podolsky and Reni,” said Mustafa Nayem, head of the agency.
He noted that the agency is also modernizing border roads within the framework of the international project Development of border road infrastructure in approaches to Ukrainian-Polish border checkpoints. We are talking about four routes in the Lviv region: T-14-04 Chervonograd – Rava-Ruska, T-14-01 Checkpoint Smilnytsia – Old Sambir, T-14-20 Yavorov – Grushev, T-14- 18 Nizhankovichi – Sambir – Drogobich – Stry.
At the moment, transport checkpoints in Poland (BCP Yagodin, Rava-Ruska, Krakovets, Shegini) serve 53% of cargo transportation, with Romania (Dyakove, Porubne, Krasnoilsk, Dyakovtsy, Belaya Tserkov) – 18% , including Moldova (Mogilev-Podolsky , Reni) – 14%, Hungary (Chop (Tysa), Luzhanka, Dida) – 10%, including Slovakia (Uzhgorod) – 5%.
In Ukraine, 100 vehicle checkpoints and control points along the state border were created for vehicle communication, including international, interstate and local. 33 checkpoints remain completely unequipped, and 20 more, built during the Soviet era, require significant reconstruction.
At the end of the work, the agency will also be provided with checkpoints that are currently under construction. In particular, the checkpoint Nizhankovichi – Malkhovice in the Lviv region and Dyakovtsy – Rakovets in the Chernivtsi region.
The Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Development Agency is responsible for the implementation of projects for the construction, repair, development and modernization of road BCPs, as well as for their maintenance.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Moldova will organize common control at the Serpneve-1 – Basarabeasca checkpoint.
