The head of the National Security and Defense Council commented on the recent statement of the Russian leader on the deployment of nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
The statement of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus creates greater conditions for the internal destabilization of this country. On March 26, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov wrote this on Twitter.
“The deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus is a step towards the internal destabilization of the country,” he stressed.
According to the head of the National Security and Defense Council, such tactics “highly increase the level of negative public perception and rejection” of the population of Belarus, both Russia and its leader.
“The Kremlin has taken Belarus as a nuclear hostage,” Danilov summed up.

Remember, on March 25, Putin said that Moscow agreed with Minsk on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. He argues that this “will not violate the obligations under START.”
According to ISW, the actions of the President of the Russian Federation are part of an information campaign designed to increase Western fears about nuclear escalation.
