Being some of the top fairy animations of the 2000s, check out the differences between ‘The Winx Club’ and ‘The Witch’
One of the main hobbies of children in the 2000s was, without a doubt, sitting in front of the television and following their favorite cartoons. Among some of the main animations of the time were “The Winx Club”, by Iginio Straffiand “Witch”, created by Elisabetta Gnone, Alessandro Barbucci It is Barbara Canepa.
The series even caused confusion among fans because they had some very similar aspects, such as the main theme: fairies. But what are the differences between the productions? We tell you right below!
Main differences
To begin with, “Witch” emerged as a comic in Italy, being published there between 2001 and 2012, and in Brazil from 2002 to 2010. The comics began to be so successful that it became a series, winning two seasons. Around here, they were shown on Globo, on the programs “TV Globinho” and “TV Xuxa”.
“Witch” follows the story of Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin, five teenagers who possess powers linked to nature who become Guardians of the Veil and are tasked with protecting the world from the terrible villain Meridian.
“The Winx Club” premiered in 2004, and was created from the beginning as a series, being produced as a collaboration between Rainbow SpA and Nickelodeon, becoming a comic only years later. The animation was so successful that it had eight seasons, remaining on the air until 2019.
In Brazil, the series was shown on several broadcasters. Among them, we have Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, SBT, Discovery Kids and TV Cultura — in addition to being available on Netflix.

If you also messed up the animations, then you don’t have to feel guilty. The similarity between the drawings was so great that it even generated a lawsuit between Disney, responsible for the rights to “Witch”, accused Rainbow SpA of plagiarism, asking for the suspension of “The Winx Club”.
Despite the process, the Italian justice ended up deciding that the productions were not so similar, in addition to Strafficreator of Winx, managed to prove that the pilot episode of the series starring Bloom and her friends would have started in the year 2000, before the release of “Witch”.
