The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Also, the warrant was issued in the name of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of Russia, Maria Alekseevna Lvova-Belova.
The abduction of Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and their forced deportation to Russia is a war crime. This was announced on Thursday, March 23, by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, writes Ukrinform.
He stressed that these crimes must be punished.
“This fully justifies the court in The Hague issuing a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
He said at least 16,200 children are known to have been deported, and only 300 have returned.
“These criminal acts indicate that the arrest warrant issued by the ISS is fully justified,” added the President of the European Commission.
Ukraine managed to bring home two more children – a nine-year-old girl and a 16-year-old teenager.
Recall that Ukraine requested that Russia provide it with lists of all orphans and children deprived of parental care brought to the territory of the Russian Federation.
