Children from Kherson, deported by the Russian occupiers, who managed to return to Ukraine, spoke about how they managed to return.
Journalist Tatyana Popova published a fragment of a conversation with a boy who was returned home.
In the camp, children were beaten, thrown into cellars, and fed poorly. They say that they were threatened with the Pskov boarding school, they said that their parents abandoned them, they beat them with metal sticks, and they were “taken somewhere” for shouting “Glory to Ukraine”.
According to the boy, they were beaten by a certain Astakhov, who is “responsible for security.”
The Russians also told the children that the dismissal of Kherson was not true, and they would forever remain “children of Russia”.
Ukrainian children were planned to be taken to Pskov – first to a boarding school, and later for adoption. The Russians assured the children that their parents had abandoned them.
