For a year as part of a charity event Ukrainian children – Ukrainian books 25 countries in the world received about 600,000 Ukrainian books for refugee children. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
During the year, Ukrainian books were received by readers in Belgium, France, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania, Albania, Hungary, Germany, Republic of Cyprus, Great Britain, Netherlands, Slovenia, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Sweden.
In total, about 600 thousand copies arrived in Europe.
“It’s no secret that the Russians consider a book a weapon. We saw how they tried to destroy books in the Ukrainian language in the occupied territories,” said Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko.
He emphasized that it is important to continue this initiative for the occupied territories, for the points of invincibility, for the Ukrainian military.
Continued action by initiative Ukrainian defenders – Ukrainian book, which started on February 17th. Its purpose is to replace the library funds of hospitals with modern Ukrainian literature, where the Ukrainian military is being treated and undergoing rehabilitation.
The first batch of one thousand copies has already arrived in military hospitals.
Charity Event Ukrainian children – Ukrainian books launched in March 2022. Children displaced by war are provided with free textbooks, teaching materials, and fiction.
Remember that last year, in just a month and a half, the people of Kiev gave 25 tons of Russian books for waste paper. Funds received from the sale of waste paper are directed to the needs of defenders of Ukraine.
