The test of two Ukrainian pilots in the United States showed that the retraining period for our fighters could be less than six months.
Ukrainian pilots are able to master Western fighters in less than six months. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need a modern aircraft with the characteristics of the F-16. This was said by the chief of aviation of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Serhiy Golubtsov, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on its Telegram channel on Tuesday, March 21.
“Recently, two Ukrainian pilots were tested in the United States so that our allies could understand how quickly Ukrainian pilots can master modern combat aircraft, including the F-16. And there is good news – the time for retraining in our pilots for Western fighters can be less than six months,” he said.
According to him, Ukraine needs multi-purpose modern aircraft capable of performing a wider range of tasks than the old Soviet technology.
At the same time, it has not been established what type of aircraft Ukraine will receive.
“At the moment we are not talking about a specific type, but focusing on technical characteristics. We are considering aircraft that can use the same ammunition and have the same characteristics as, say, the F- 16,” said the brigadier general.
He added that Ukraine has the capacity to store aviation. The armed forces have already received Western air defense systems, including for the protection of airport infrastructure.
It will be remembered that the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the transfer of MiG aircraft to Ukraine will not change the situation in the sky, but it may push the Western allies to transfer F-16 fighters.
