In Kyiv, the deterioration of the air again. On the morning of March 21, the city authorities urged people not to open windows and not to play sports on the street.
Atmospheric monitoring services draw an eight-fold excess of harmful particles.
The same situation was observed yesterday. Ecologists attribute this to the lack of wind and precipitation, which knock down smog and emissions from thermal power plants.
Residents of Kiev are advised to refrain from airing the premises and physical activity on the street.
You can monitor the state of atmospheric air and background radiation online on the resource https://asm.kyivcity.gov.ua/ and in the Kyiv Digital application.
Ecologist Volodymyr Boreyko explained the reasons for the high level of air pollution recorded on March 20 on the left bank of Kyiv. According to him, this is due to weather conditions.
This is due to the fact that there is no wind, rain or snow. The wind blows and the rain filters the air. In Kiev, there is always a lot of pollution due to cars and thermal power plants, but when there is precipitation, the air is more or less clean, and when it is calm and foggy, as it is today, harmful emissions accumulate in the atmosphere,” the ecologist explained.
According to Boreyko, the air quality in Kyiv will improve when the weather changes, and the increase in green areas in Kyiv will help to systematically solve this problem, the expert believes.
