In the battle for Bakhmut, the Russians shifted their efforts to the flanks of the Ukrainian troops.
The soldiers of the 46th brigade defending the city reported that the reason for this tactic was the lack of an opportunity to advance in Bakhmut.
Urban battles are always slow, but they need a result, writes the telegram channel of the 46th brigade.
The Ukrainian military reports about the activation of the Russians in the direction of the settlements Grigorovka – Bogdanovka. In Orekhovo-Vasilovka, the Wagnerites are moving in the direction of Novomarkovo to the border of the canal. If the Russians succeed, they can put pressure on Vremenny Yar, but not on Bakhmut.
As for the pace of the offensive, the Wagners have no problems with their personnel, but at the same time, the weight of the artillery salvo has not recovered in a month. Aviation, after losses, works less frequently and further from zero, they fear, the fighters write.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War have observed that Russia’s all-out spring offensive is likely to culminate, and Russian forces could step up efforts to make at least minor gains before losing the initiative in Ukraine.
The ISW still believes it is possible that a Russian offensive could induce Ukraine to withdraw from Bakhmut and/or Avdiivka, although neither is currently likely.
According to analysts, Russian forces likely made additional gains in the southwest and north of Bakhmut, as well as in the northwest of Bakhmut between Bogdanovka and Khromovo. If we accept the data of the Ukrainian General Staff, then Russian troops probably advanced west of Krasnogorovka (9 km north of Avdiivka) and captured Stepne (west of Krasnogorovka).
