The Slovak government approved the transfer of 13 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
The decision was made “in a constitutionally pure form.” Slovak President Zuzana Caputova has already been informed of the decision to hand over the planes. This was announced by Prime Minister Eduard Geger on March 17 on Twitter.
President Volodymyr Zelensky is asking for more weapons. I said we’ll do our best. Glad others are doing the same.
According to the head of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces, Daniel Zmeko, the transfer of MiGs will in no way threaten the defense of Slovakia.
In addition, the publication “Now” informed that the Slovak government also agreed to transfer the Kub anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.
Recall, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, said on March 16 that he would transfer four MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine in the coming days. All these fighters are in working condition and can immediately perform combat missions. The remaining aircraft are being serviced and prepared for delivery. By order, there are 28 MiG-29 aircraft in the Polish army fleet.
