The Khabarovsk garrison military court sentenced serviceman Daniil Frolkin to five and a half years of probation on charges of “fake news” about the Russian army, they write Important Stories. The prosecution asked the court to appoint Frolkin a real term – six years in prison.
In the summer of 2022, Frolkin confessed to Important Stories in the murder of a Ukrainian civilian in the village of Andreevka, Kyiv region.
The Ukrainian he killed, Frolkin said at the time, was passing the coordinates of the Russian occupation columns moving through the Kyiv region to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The order to kill, he argued, had been issued by his commander. Frolkin shot the Ukrainian in the face.
The fact that a case was initiated against Frolkin about “fake” about the Russian army became known in December 2022. Whether the criminal prosecution of the military is related to his interview with Important Stories is not specified.
According to some reports, Frolkin served in the 64th motorized rifle brigade. In July last year, he filed a letter of resignation from the service, after which he returned to Russia at his place of residence – in the Khabarovsk Territory.
