The security service exposed a Russian military intelligence agent group – it included two residents of Kramatorsk.
The counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) exposed the GRU intelligence group of the Russian Federation as a result of a special operation in the Donetsk region. The SBU press center reported this on Thursday, March 16.
“Enemy agents included two residents of Kramatorsk. One of them was a nurse of the Terodefense combat unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the direction of the aggressor, they collected intelligence about the places of deployment and movements of the Defense . Force in the direction of Bakhmut,” the report said.
The service said the information was needed by the occupiers for planning military operations near Bakhmut. The attackers also recorded the results of enemy attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure in order to correct repeated enemy attacks.
“SBU counterintelligence officers detained both Russian agents while they were conducting an intelligence task. According to the investigation, they were in remote communication with a Russian military intelligence officer. It was established that he recruited agents by a representative of the intelligence unit of the 1st Army Corps of the southern military district from the RF, which includes the son of one of the figurants,” the press center said.
The Russian “guarantees” his accomplices for treason in “leading positions” in the local labor administration.
During searches of the malefactors’ addresses, mobile phones and a laptop were found, which they used to communicate with the Russian curator.
The SBU informed one of the detainees about the suspicion under the article Treason committed under martial law (part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the rest – under the article Dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (part 2 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The suspects are currently in custody.
Recall that the SBU detained an accomplice of the Russian Federation, who tried to flee to Transnistria.
In addition, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, an informer of the Russian special services was exposed, collecting intelligence.
