Countries will first define the requirements for the future aircraft, then the development phase will begin.
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said Britain will work with Italy and Japan to develop a sixth-generation fighter jet. The project must be approved by 2025.
According to him, the countries will first determine the requirements for the future aircraft, then the development phase will begin.
The British Defense Minister said he expects the first flights of the aircraft by the end of the decade.
He noted that Britain will finance the project to the tune of two billion pounds by 2025. And over the next 10 years, funding of another £10bn will be available. The total development program will exceed £25bn.
“We will open new paths, new technologies, new platforms, export markets and potential new partners, but at the same time we will enter into a strategic partnership with liberal open democracies that believe in the rule of law and support for international values around the world that are under tremendous threat today. This is a global partnership,” Wallace said.
Recall that Britain is considering the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian pilots will be trained on fighter jets in Britain for three years.
