The man moved to temporarily occupied Crimea in 2020 and was recruited by the Russian FSB there.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has collected evidence of the guilt of a Russian agent who carried out reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine during the war. The SBU press center reported this on Monday, March 13.
The Service noted that the attacker was the former vice-rector of one of the higher educational medical institutions in Kyiv. After his expulsion in 2020, he moved to the temporarily occupied Crimea. There he was recruited by the FSB. However, a month before the start of a large-scale invasion, the henchman of the invaders returned to Kyiv to carry out hostile activities.
“It was established that the traitor collected information for the aggressor about military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were hospitalized in military hospitals and hospitals in the Kiev region. In addition, the agent established contacts to Ukrainian and foreign scientists for their subsequent recruitment into the FSB agent apparatus,” the report said. .
The attacker was accompanied by his former work colleagues and university graduates in his activities.
“In the event of successful completion of the tasks, the special service of Russia” guarantees “to its agent the appointment of the” Deputy Minister of Health “overseeing the work of the peninsula. However, the SBU interfered with these plans – it documented criminal actions and detained the attacker in May last year while trying to transfer intelligence information to the enemy,” – added to the SBU.
Based on the materials of the Security Service, the court found him guilty under the article of state treason committed under martial law (part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Recall that another fan of the “Russian world” was found in the ranks of the SBU.
In addition, the SBU reported the suspicion of treason against the former police chief of the Vinnytsia region. He was charged with preparing for the FSB a “plan” of terrorist attacks against civilians in Ukraine.
