The Security Service of Ukraine finally confirmed the identity of the military man, whom the Russian invaders shot after the words “Glory to Ukraine!”
It was established that the enemy executed the sniper of the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the Territorial defense of the Chernihiv region Oleksandr Matsiyevsky. It was possible to finally confirm the hero’s data after a complex of investigative actions, which included communication with relatives and brothers of the deceased, as well as the development of photo and video materials. An examination of the video also showed that Matsievsky was on it. This was announced on March 12 by the press center of the SBU.
It is noted that Matsievsky was called up for military service in March 2022. Since the end of December, he was considered missing near the village of Krasnaya Gora in the Donetsk region. Investigators found out that the hero was shot on December 30, 2022. His body was returned home in February 2023.
This is a real hero who, even looking into the face of death, demonstrated to the whole world what the Ukrainian character and invincibility are. It is these defenders who defend our land today, which means that the enemy will certainly be defeated. For the great victory of Ukraine consists of the heroic deeds of people like Oleksandr Matsiyevsky. Glory to the hero! Glory to heroes! Glory to Ukraine! – said the head of the Security Council of Ukraine Vasily Malyuk.
Now the special service is taking comprehensive measures to identify the Russian military personnel who committed this crime. The pre-trial investigation under Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Telegram that he had awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Oleksandr Matsiyevsky.
Earlier, the regional administration of the Forces of the Troop Troop “North” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the military man whose resonant video with the execution was recently circulated on the network is a fighter of the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the Chernihiv Oblast Troops Oleksandr Matsiyevsky from Nizhyn.
