Three billion pounds will be directed towards building nuclear deterrence forces. Another part of the amount will go to replenish stocks of ammunition and weapons transferred to Ukraine to protect against Russia.
The military budget increase item appears in the updated version of the UK Security, Defense and Foreign Policy Comprehensive Review. It will be published on March 13th. The document addresses the geopolitical threat arising from Russia’s war against Ukraine and China’s economic coercion.
In 2021-22, British defense spending will be £71.4 billion.
