Party candidate for Bulgaria world Atanas Stefanov threw the Ukrainian flag from the balcony of Sofia City Hall in protest, according to local newspaper News.bg.
“We removed the fascist flag, which has no place there. It has been out of place there for a long time. Death to fascism, we will not legitimize the fascists and the Holocaust,” the politician said.
In a video posted on Facebook by the party leader world Simeon Slavchev, Stefanov heard lowering the Ukrainian flag with shouts of “Hurrah!” from the operator’s side. The Ukrainian flag was subsequently moved from the Sofia City Hall building to one of the city’s streets and left near the flower bed.
The video’s description emphasizes that the politician lowered the flag in protest against the “deliberate division of Bulgarian society and attempts to involve Bulgaria in the conflict in Ukraine.”
