The Institute for the Study of War believes that if Bakhmut is captured, the Russian offensive in the east will end.
The Russian army will likely not have enough resources to continue the offensive if Bakhmut is captured. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Military experts drew attention to the statement of the founder of PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, that the Russian Defense Ministry used his fighters to exhaust the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Bakhmut, and then could refuse their services there .
According to ISW, there are no signs that the Russian military has a well-equipped and trained reserve to advance beyond Bakhmut.
Most of the observed Russian units in the Donbas are already conducting offensive operations, including Russian airborne (VDV) units that joined the Russian offensive in Bakhmut in January 2023.
Analysts believe that if Bakhmut is captured, Russia’s offensive in this direction will end.
Remember that Russia lost from 20 thousand to 30 thousand people, trying to take Bakhmut.
As reported, at a meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander, it was decided that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to defend Bakhmut and strengthen positions in the city.
The Polish general appreciated the importance of Bakhmut for Ukraine and the Russian Federation
