On the occasion of the International Day for Women’s Rights, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded high state awards and honorary titles to women who distinguished themselves in defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, reported Office of the President on Wednesday, March 8.
The ceremony took place at the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv in the presence of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who arrived on a visit to Ukraine.
“Today we thank our women who are fighting, caring, working for the sake of peace for Ukraine, for the protection of our lives, our freedom, our people. I am glad that today there is such an opportunity – to presence of the UN Secretary General, to celebrate the state awards and thank the military personnel of Ukraine, workers of the medical system, the State Emergency Service, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrposhta. To those who protect Ukraine. To those who help to Ukrainians and Ukrainian women,” Zelensky said.
For courage and dedication shown in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, faithfully and unerringly performing professional duty, the head of state awarded orders and medals to female military personnel, as well as the representatives of civilian professions, one of which is posthumously.
As reported, Zelensky congratulated Ukrainians on the International Day of Struggle for Women’s Rights. The head of state thanked all women who work, study, save, treat and fight for Ukraine.
