The intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense believes that it is difficult for the Russian army to maintain the pace of the offensive in Bakhmut.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to defend the city, despite heavy pressure and the destruction of ammunition routes.
British intelligence even notes that the defenders probably stabilized their defensive perimeter after the preliminary Russian offensives on the northern part of the city. Currently, both sides continue to drain each other.

The public disagreement between the Wagner group and the Russian Ministry of Defense over the distribution of ammunition highlights the difficulty of maintaining the high levels of personnel and ammunition needed to advance with their current tactics, the British Ministry of Defense notes.
They also note that Russia destroyed the bridge with its strike due to the only covered supply road to Bakhmut, which is still under Ukrainian control. Destroyed roads make it difficult to replenish supplies.
In a daily morning report, experts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted on March 7 that Ukraine’s fight for Bakhmut had become strategically important due to the current composition of Russian forces stationed in the area.
Some Western reports have recently suggested that Ukraine is spending elite troops and scarce equipment predominantly on Wagner recruits who are mere cannon fodder.
