Pilots will use a simulator that can simulate flights of various types of aircraft, including F-16s.
Two Ukrainian pilots came to the US to test their skills in piloting combat aircraft, including the F-16 fighter. On Saturday, March 4, NBC reports.
It was noted that the assessment of the skills of Ukrainian pilots is carried out in simulators at a military base in Tucson, Arizona, and can be continued by attracting other Ukrainian pilots.
The publication reported that US authorities approved the arrival of 10 more Ukrainian pilots in the United States to undergo a similar assessment this month.
This is the first trip of Ukrainian pilots to the United States to have their skills tested by American military trainers. It is noted that the main objective is to improve the skills of the pilots and determine the duration of the necessary training.
“The program is designed to evaluate their ability as pilots so that we can better advise them on how to use the opportunities given to them,” said a US administration official.
At the same time, two administration officials emphasized that this is not a training program and that Ukrainian pilots will not fly any aircraft while in the US. Pilots will use a simulator that can simulate flights of different types of aircraft.
At the same time, it is emphasized that there are no plans to transfer the F-16 to Ukraine.
Earlier, the United States reported that Ukraine’s allies could transfer F-16 fighter jets and long-range weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces at a decisive turning point in the war.
Recall that, according to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, the initiative to transfer Western fighters to Ukraine already exists, so it remains only to organize an “aircraft coalition.”
