Rescuers managed to retrieve a dog alive from a collapsed building in southern Turkey three weeks after a deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake, local media reported on Thursday.
Rescue teams of the municipality in the city center Turkey On Wednesday, they rescued Alex’s dog and handed him over to the Turkish Animal Welfare Association Haytap in Antakya.
A video from the DHA news agency shows rescuers making their way between two large concrete slabs and calling out to the captured animal.
“He’s coming?” one of the rescuers asks, hiding in a small space among the rubble of the building.
“Alex, come on, honey,” calls another lifeguard. “A very good son.”

Later, lifeguards show up hugging dogwho looks alert and healthy while drinking water.
“Every living thing is important to us, people or animals,” said the rescuer, quoted by DHA after the miraculous rescue.
Rescuers rescued hundreds of cats dogsrabbits and birds were trapped in Antakya, one of the cities hardest hit by the disaster.
In the Aytap tents, veterinarians take care of animals affected by the earthquake.

The earthquake claimed the lives of more than 45 thousand people in Turkey and thousands more in Syria, destroying hundreds of thousands of buildings in the process.
