This year, for the first time, the indexation of the minimum pension will be carried out. Previously, they were exclusively changed along with the increase in the subsistence minimum, growing at a slower pace than indexation.
From March 1, Ukraine will index pensions by 19.7% for 10.5 million pensioners. The Ministry of Social Policy announced this last night.
It is indicated that the indexation of the minimum pension will be carried out this year for the first time. Previously, such pensions were not subject to indexation and were only changed along with the increase of the subsistence minimum (growing at a slower pace than indexation).
“The inclusion of such payments in the indexation perimeter makes it possible to ensure the growth of the minimum pension. In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, adopted by the government, the indexation of pensions from March 1, 2023 will be 19.7 %. The increase in the amount of pensions will take place for 10.5 million pensioners,” – said the message.
In particular, from March 1, pensions will be indexed for 5.2 million “civilian” pensioners who have been assigned a pension until 2020, for them the increase of pensions will be carried out by indexation of 19.7% of the average salary, from which the pension is calculated.
Also, pensions will be indexed for 4.2 million people whose pensions will increase due to a 19.7% increase in the fixed amount of minimum pension payments.
In particular, we are talking about minimum pensions, the amount of which includes the state supplement to the minimum amount guaranteed by the state. For such pensions, the increase is from 420 to 520 hryvnias (compared to pensions established on March 1, 2022).
In addition, pensions will be indexed for 0.5 million pensioners of law enforcement agencies, of which the entire pension will be indexed by 19.7%, and for 94.5 thousand people receiving disability pensions due to injury or illness, as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.
The department states that the monthly compensation payment (assigned on the initiative of the president) for pensioners over 70 years of age will also be paid, whose pension does not reach 10,340 hryvnias: 570 hryvnias – for those person over 80 years of age; 456 hryvnias – for people aged 75-80; 300 hryvnia – people aged 70-75 years.
In addition, from March 1, the monthly insurance payments for 166.5 thousand victims and persons entitled to monthly insurance payments in the event of the victim’s death will be indexed by 19.7%.
Among other things, from April 1, the automatic recalculation of pensions for 0.6 million working pensioners will be carried out, taking into account the updated (increased) insurance period, and from July 1, the special pensions for 22.7 thousand scientists, government officials will be indexed. by 19.7%. employees, employees of local governments.
In addition, 0.5 million pension recipients who received pensions in 2020-2022 will receive an increase of 100 hryvnias.
“The pensions themselves will not be indexed for them, because they already receive a pension that is higher than citizens with the same length of service, the ratio of their wages to the average wage in the country, but retired in last year. is due to the fact that pensions for those who have reached retirement age, starting in 2020, are calculated with a higher average salary than in previous years. Therefore, the indexation of payments of pension for them will lead to an increase in the gap between the size of the pension,” said the Ministry of Social Policy.
The department emphasizes that for any calculations, the increase in pensions will be at least 100 hryvnias, but not more than 1.5 thousand hryvnias for all recipients of pensions and insurance payments, regardless of category.
“The introduction of such a restriction will make it possible to more fairly distribute the available financial resources for indexation and not leave the citizens who receive the smallest payments. Thus, the government ensured the balance between social justice and the search for on the necessary financial resources for indexation in 2023, “- said the message.
Earlier it was reported that some Ukrainians may be left without a pension or lose part of the payments. It was learned that the Ministry of Finance will start a total check, and the recipients of pensions will be checked against many registers.
